chief complaint: chronic
neck pain
A 39 year old nurse manager complained of
chronic neck pain following a whiplash injury resulting from an auto accident
1 year before. She had already been treated with physical therapy, anti-inflammatory
medications, and osteopathic manipulation.
This woman did very well with acupuncture
care, reporting about 90% pain relief after a few sessions. In the beginning
she felt better right after her sessions, but the pain returned after a
few days or when she became tired or stressed. We treated her about 10
times in all, first weekly and then at longer intervals, until her pain
relief was very stable. She also reported that acupuncture cleared up migraine
headaches, allergies, and improved sleep. |
