chief complaint: migraine headaches

A 38 year old massage therapist complained of severe migraines for 5 years, in addition to tension headaches for 10+ years. She described her pain as "screaming headaches", worse with her period, accompanied by nausea, PMS and especially intense irritability. She had chronic tight neck and shoulders and ground her teeth at night. Awake at 2-3 AM, she was fatigued in the morning and throughout the day. She was chronically constipated. After 10 weekly sessions, all her symptoms were significantly better. She still has headaches, less frequent and less severe. She enjoys her sessions immensely and plans to continue acupuncture on a less frequent basis as long as her symptoms continue to improve.
